Brady Kannon

Brady’s professional career in sports began in 1991 when he went to work for KSFO Radio in San Francisco as a sports reporter. Kannon covered all Bay Area sports for three years before moving to Las Vegas to work for a national network, SportsFan Radio Network. In Las Vegas he was introduced to sports wagering up close, while producing a national football show with Dave Cokin. Frequent contributors to the show were Marc Lawrence and Bob Stoll along with a handful of other well known industry professionals. He cut his teeth here in the science of handicapping – learning, listening, talking and eventually becoming good friends with all of these professionals.

My First Bet:

The first wager  placed in Las Vegas was a 25-1 winner on Thunder Gulch in the 1995 Kentucky Derby.

My Vegas Betting & Golf Life:

I left radio for the golf business and have been making tee times and running golf tournaments for visitors to Las Vegas since 1996 (LVTeeTimes.com). 2011 was a pretty good year. I won the Member-Guest Golf Tournament at Red Rock Country Club and later that year, captained the 4-person team of Sans Souci to win The Las Vegas Hilton NFL SuperContest. We set the record for the highest winning percentage in the history of the contest at 72.5%. Since winning The SuperContest, I have used my passion for both golf and football, to marry my hobbies with my profession. In doing so, I teamed up with Jay Kornegay in 2012 to create SuperContest Weekend and golf tournament to kick off the football season and Westgate SuperContest.

After winning the SuperContest, I got back into radio, co-hosting with Ken Thomson on SportsXRadio once a week for six years. VSiN has since given me the opportunity to blend all that I do, maintaining my full time golf reservations job, while hosting a full time radio show, and writing weekly pieces featured in our online publication, Point Spread Weekly.

Favorite Musicians:  Jerry Garcia, Miles Davis, Rolling Stones.. I could go on here for a long, long time. Music is one of my greatest loves.

Favorite Movie:  One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

Favorite Teams: When I was about 5-years old, I got a Kenny Stabler jersey and helmet for Christmas. I have forever been a fan of all Bay Area teams but was raised with a bias toward the Giants, 49’ers, Cal Bears, and Warriors. Since moving to Las Vegas, I have found myself rooting for all West Coasters.. the Pac 12, Mountain West.. yes, even the Dodgers and USC if they are playing against someone to the east of us. The West is the best.

Favorite Athlete: I love Klay Thompson, John Taylor, Will Clark, Ronnie Lott, Vida Blue, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, etc, etc.. but what I really remember most is being a 150-pound 22-year old, absolute neophyte, interviewing players postgame in the locker room after a Warrios-Trailblazers game and “Clyde the Glide,” Clyde Drexler spoke to me for 15-minutes, one on one, and treated me like I was a veteran, accomplished, and revered sports writer. An incredible gentleman that I will never forget.

Favorite Pastimes; Hiking, fly-fishing, travel, concerts, road trips. Watching games with a little action involved, and watching my children experience College.

A Love for Broadcasting: Growing up in The Bay Area, playing all sports and listening to all sports on radio; Bill King doing the Raiders and Warriors, Lon Simmons on the 49’ers, and Hank Greenwald calling Giants games, was a murderers row that would hold up against anyone in the country, ever. It was hard not to fall in love with that.
